Today we sell our broad portfolio of solutions to the largest companies in the world, and to optimize for this market we need product marketers who can identify customer pain points and how Okta solves for those across our product lines.
Our focus on the world’s largest organizations requires dedicated roles targeting specific high value industry verticals. The ideal candidate for this position would be an experienced product marketer with an in-depth knowledge of the user experience, security, and digital transformation challenges of large financial services organizations.
About the Role
Okta is seeking a Product Marketing Manager to join our Competitive Intelligence (CI) team.
This team is at the forefront of research and analysis in the highly competitive Identity and Access Management (IAM) space. We identify differentiators, develop strategic insights, and create comprehensive competitive assets that enable our field teams and champions to effectively compete and win. We thrive on staying ahead of the market trends, equipping our organization with actionable intelligence, and driving impactful decisions in a rapidly evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Product Marketing Manager, Competitive Intelligence, you will:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of competitors in the IAM market using publicly available resources, with a strong focus on Microsoft’s IAM products.
- Stay up to date on Microsoft’s IAM and Security product development (e.g. Governance, Permissions Management, Identity Protection, Defender lineup and Sentinel).
- Set up environments for integration testing to allow us to gain hands-on experience and identify opportunities to simplify our customers' environments.
- Identify competitive differentiators and market trends to inform product strategy, positioning, and identify new threats.
- Collaborate with product management, sales, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on competitive positioning and strategies.
- Support the field with strategic guidance during critical sales cycles by delivering timely and relevant competitive insights.
- Build and maintain competitive assets, such as battlecards, whitepapers, presentations, and playbooks to enable field teams.
- Deliver training for product and field teams covering topics such as strategy, competitor products and market trends.
- Contribute to and help maintain our database of competitor information.
- Contribute to a monthly newsletter that highlights developments and trends in our market.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Proven experience in research, analysis, and building competitive intelligence assets in the IAM space.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft IAM products (e.g., Entra ID, Entra External ID, Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services, Conditional Access, MFA, and Identity Governance).
- Hands-on experience setting up and configuring client devices in Microsoft environments on multiple platforms (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, Linux, iOS, and Android) including experience with virtualization.
- Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of identity protocols (e.g. SAML, OAuth, OpenID, SCIM).
- Experience working with Hybrid Identity (Active Directory + Okta or Active Directory + Entra ID).
- Experience setting up SSO & provisioning for SaaS applications.
- Strong technical research, benchmarking, and analytical skills.
Bonus points for:
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of the Okta Suite of Products.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Security Products (Defender XDR, Defender for Identity and Sentinel).
- Hands-on work with MDM or UEM products (e.g. Intune, Workspace One, JamF).
- Hands-on experience with any of the following products: Ping, ForgeRock, Sailpoint.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, Kerberos, LDAP).
- Fundamental knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, concepts, and practical applications.
