Our client, a leader in the aviation space, is seeking a Senior UX Designer to join their team on an ongoing contract basis in Downtown Chicago. In this role, you will be supporting the ‘shop team, and working closely on design for flight purchasing for both the app and .com site. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week on site and includes health benefits.

Job Description

The Senior UX Designer will help lead the design and definition as a key contributor to the Core UX team, responsible for integrating human-centered practices in unpacking and improving the digital customer experience across all stages of the travel journey. The Core UX team supports defining the client’s digital product strategy and providing the leadership to execute on that strategy with the help of a cross-functional mission-based teams. They are looking for an empathic, passionate curious designer who celebrates delivering high-quality solutions and thrives for innovation in a collaborative environment.

You Will

PLAN & CONCEPT

Visualize ideas using professional design tools as well as sticky notes, sketch boards, whiteboard markers or whatever tools are necessary to rapidly work through ideation and move to the next stage Initiate and respond to ideas for innovation/improvements based on research, analysis, and competitive reviews Identify user needs and business requirements Substantiate design approach with analysis & projections for improvements

DESIGN & REFINE

Ensure digital customer touch points become and remain consistent with the client’s user experience and brand standards Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions Drive the design of next generation, navigation schemes, patterns, components and templates across the company’s products, insuring a consistent, appealing, and dynamic customer experience. Create low and high fidelity interactive prototypes adhering to a rapid, iterative and collaborative process Work with usability researchers to design test plans and iterate designs throughout user testing. Translate usability research findings into design improvements.

DEFINE & COMMUNICATE

Create final design deliverables through appropriately detailed design specifications including: process flows, wireframes, storyboards, high and low fidelity mockups, red-lines and prototypes Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and executives for review and feedback Collaborate with cross-functional teams as well as the larger UX team and business partners throughout the design process Communicate harmoniously with multiple stakeholders to synthesize, review design project progress, and incorporate feedback appropriately with a user-centered focus During implementation phase respond to day-to-day questions from developers, product managers & project managers Work with QA to identify, document, and verify bug fixes Provide guidance and mentor junior designers

Education & Experience

BA/BS or equivalent work experience required 5+ years professional UX design experience required

Knowledge/Skills

Solid grasp of web design principles and a good understanding of front-end web technologies required Excellent understanding of user experience design for the Web, mobile, and touch devices required Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere with minimal supervision required Experience in writing detailed design specifications (IA, work flow, page functionality and layout, etc.), which technology developers use to build the product required Must be a self-starter that can create schedules and define scope of work even when there are no clear requirements and direction required Strong ability to communicate your design, defend your design decisions, and respond quickly to business needs required Proven ability to set the design direction for your projects and to collaborate with other designers working in the space required A team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing environment required

Logistics:

Preferred Hours of work: 9 to 5 pm CST Work Location: Downtown, Chicago Work Schedule: Hybrid, 2-3 days a week onsite Will this person have to travel? The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
