Carve Designs is looking for an Associate Designer in Sausalito, CA.

Job Title: Associate Designer

Carve Designs is a rapidly growing women’s surf-inspired swimwear and apparel brand based in Sausalito, California. We are looking for candidates who are problem-solvers, good team players, and process-oriented. Successful contributors to our team take accountability for their work but are not afraid to ask questions.

Overview:

1. The position requires an excellent taste level, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, adaptability to a fast-paced environment, and the flexibility to work autonomously and in collaboration with team members in Development, Tech Design, Print, and Production.
2. The ideal candidate is creative and hardworking, knowledgeable of fabrics, trims, garment sewing, and construction.
3. Proficiency in fashion illustration, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office products is required.
4. Minimum 3-year design school or equivalent experience working in the industry, plus 2-4+ years in Fashion Design.

Primary Responsibilities:

Concepting and Design:

1. Work closely with the design team to bring the collection from concept to reality, including but not limited to conceptual presentations, sketch review, design, and guidance through fabric development.
2. Contribute to seasonal concept research as well as competitive market research.
3. Assist with sketching into design concepts synthesizing design direction from VP of Design & Merch and Senior Designer.

Print and Color:

1. Contribute concepts to color palette creation.
2. Help color and update prints as needed.
3. Responsible for ordering Pantones in a timely manner and distributing to vendors.
4. Create and maintain lab dip logs.
5. Assist with lab dip and strike off comments with oversight of Designer.
6. Assist Designer with creation and maintenance of all artwork mill sheets.

Tech Packs and PLM:

1. Clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through sketches and callouts with feedback and update as needed through all sample stages.
2. Pro-actively coordinate with team members from Design, Product Development, and Fabric departments to make sure all information is current and correct through development, SMS, and production handover stages.
3. Collaborate with Designer and PD to fill BOMS, add color CADS, and color numbers to tech packs.
4. Maintain sketch and construction updates in PLM, internal merch sheets, and fit guides.

Additional Responsibilities may include:

1. CAD color-ups.
2. Receive and send out packages.
3. General studio organization, including sample room and design areas.
4. Maintain in-house libraries such as Pantones, fabrics, trims, and comp samples.
5. Assist with reviewing and organizing TOPS.
6. Attend weekly review meetings, making notes, and expediting follow-up on any tasks identified during the meeting.
7. Assist with filling in line plan details for wholesale catalog & online copy.
8. Create & maintain sample discrepancy list for photo shoots & sales meeting.
9. Assist PD in bulk fabric & trim approvals to ensure post-SMS comments are followed.
10. Must be able to help at sample sales, around the office, and must be able to lift 60lbs.
