Position Overview:

The Design Review Manager is responsible for overseeing the Design Review Process, ensuring that architectural and design submissions meet established standards and guidelines and currently has two (2) direct reports. This role involves educating property owners on the application process, collaborating with stakeholders, and facilitating clear communication between owners, contractors, team members, and review boards. A strong understanding of architectural design concepts and the ability to translate these ideas into accessible language for a diverse audience is essential to success in this position. The Founder's vision for the community, as contained in the community design guidelines, exerts a strong design prerogative on all properties within the community. This requires the person in this position to work with residents to find solutions that deliver a solution that aligns with those guidelines. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between the HOA, homeowners, and developers, ensuring that the neighborhood maintains its visual integrity and that improvements align with the community’s vision.

This master-planned community is highly amenitized and specifically designed with providing residents with numerous recreational and lifestyle options. It has earned awards and maintains a strong standing within the top ten master planned communities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Design Review Process:

  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Design Review Process, ensuring applications are complete before submitting to the Committee for review
  • Ensure timely and accurate reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with design guidelines and established standards.
  • Chair all Design Review Committee meetings, educate volunteer resident committee members on principles of good design and seek consensus on application reviews wherever possible
  • Maintain detailed records of submissions, decisions, and communications.

2. Educate and Assist Property Owners:

  • Guide property owners through the application process, providing clear instructions, resources and design options that help residents get to an approvable application.
  • Conduct workshops or informational sessions to familiarize owners with design guidelines and expectations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Communications Manager, as needed, and according to the board's directive, to provide resident educational opportunities on the processes
  • Address questions and concerns with professionalism and clarity.

3. Collaborate with Stakeholders:

  • Act as a liaison between property owners, contractors, designers, developer and review boards.
  • Facilitate productive discussions to resolve design concerns and disputes.
  • Provide constructive feedback to applicants to support successful outcomes.

4. Interpret Architectural Design Concepts:

  • Review architectural and design submissions, ensuring alignment with guidelines and standards.
  • Translate complex architectural concepts into straightforward language for non-expert audiences.
  • Evaluate proposals for feasibility, aesthetics, and adherence to community standards.

5. Enhance the Design Review Process:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the review process as needed.
  • Develop and update educational materials, guidelines, and tools for stakeholders.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in architectural design and review.

Qualifications:
• Minimum associate’s degree in architecture, urban planning, or 5 years of related field/industry preferred.
• Strong understanding of architectural principles, design guidelines, and community association management.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and a diplomatic approach to problem-solving.

• Organizational Skills: Maintain orderly processes and documentation.


Working Conditions
• This is an office-based role with occasional on-site visits to assess property improvements and compliance.
• Must be able to attend monthly HOA meetings and all design review committee meetings, including occasional evenings, as required.
• Must possess a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license with a clear record and maintain current vehicle insurance.

If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state driver’s license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify People Operations immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.

The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:

  • Mobility: Ability to walk the grounds long distances in various weather conditions.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifting and carrying supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Extended Sitting or Standing: Capability to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings or events.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skills in using technology, including computers and mobile devices.
  • Driving: Ability to operate vehicle to perform certain job functions. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
