ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires a self-starting, motivated designer who can independently own multiple projects from beginning to end with input from senior designers and engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Designer at Kratos will be responsible for the production and maintenance of 3D CAD models and associated 2D drawings for electrical power products built at Kratos using Autodesk Inventor with Vault. Tasks include the creation and maintenance of 3D models and the associated Bills of Materials, as well as part drawing creation. Most tasks are done via CAD software throughout the life cycle of each project, however some time will be spent discussing projects on the production floor. Specification of quality flow-down requirements, project documentation, and creation of production-required assets. The Designer must work with a broad range of people to efficiently incorporate redlines into as-built drawings and make on-floor corrections to active projects. Establish rapport with clients, vendors, and co-workers throughout all levels of the company. Communication is key to this role’s success. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering or associate degree with 2+ years relevant past work experience.

•Related work experience will be considered as a substitute for education

•5+ years’ experience in 3D CAD programs. (preferred Autodesk Inventor, but SolidWorks or equivalent will be considered; experience gained during education is acceptable)

•Experience generating manufacturing prints from 3D CAD models.

•Ability to read and understand different project requirements/codes and apply to the design of equipment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

•Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated understanding of 3-phase Power Distribution Fundamentals.

•Prior independent design of sheet metal parts.

•Experience in Switchboard/gear design

•UL 891 knowledge

•Thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects to balance.

•Autodesk Inventor with Vault Experience

•ERP experience a plus

•Experience in manufacturing environment

•ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma

PERFORMANCE BONUS

As a Kratos Employee you are eligible to take part in the company bonus plan. A percentage of your annual gross wages will be paid dependent on EBITDA at the end of the year.
