Position Overview:
Our Experience through Product Design (XPD) team seeks a UI/UX Designer to help our team create best-in-class products and experiences. As a top creative talent with a passion for user-centered design, you’ll help lead JRNY’s experience design and interactions. You’ll collaborate and work closely with a diverse, cross-functional team to bring ideas to life through compelling storytelling and confident visual and interaction design. Our ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, strong visual designer, someone who loves a challenge, and who can translate complex concepts into seamless experiences.
Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Create, manage, and update the JRNY app design system in Figma, ensuring designs align with the app's functionality.
- Utilize design thinking process to develop and enhance features, producing wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Efficiently split time and effort working on two development teams to produce both the JRNY app and physical products.
- Conduct user research and ideation to support design processes.
- Maintain and enhance digital design guidelines and style guides for brand consistency.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cross team and interdisciplinary collaboration with project managers, developers, engineering, and consumer insights to support project objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to balance user needs and business goals, presenting design concepts and articulating design rationale.
- Engage cross-functional teams, including marketing, to ensure alignment on project changes.
- Educate and advocate for design activities within the project team, contributing to the overall vision.
Project Management and Documentation:
- Organize and maintain documentation of JRNY functionality in Confluence.
- Work within a 2-week sprint format, creating and updating tickets in Jira for project tracking.
- Plan and lead reviews, pitches, and feedback sessions to socialize strategy and emphasize delivered value.
- Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, ensuring seamless handoff of design assets to development teams.
Quality Assurance and Improvement:
- Quality test the app, identify bugs, and suggest improvements.
- Review shipped features and identify user experience enhancements based on qualitative and quantitative data.
- Support the engineering team during the development process to bring product designs to life.
Innovation and User Advocacy:
- Lead the development of user-facing solutions, incorporating company and product branding.
- Design user flows and interactions that simplify complex processes.
- Co-lead the product design thinking process with product management, prioritizing human problems to solve.
- Propose and weigh design and research options, leveraging extensive UX design knowledge and industry experience.
Communication and Culture:
- Present ideas and creative solutions to various partners and stakeholders through compelling storytelling.
- Contribute to creating a positive, supportive culture that fosters innovative and memorable user experiences.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance on design artifacts, ensuring quality and coherence across the team.
Requirements:
Education:
- BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of UX experience required.
- Strong mobile app design skills.
- Excellent UX/UI and visuals design skills with a strong portfolio.
Other Requirements:
- Solid experience in creating concepts, wireframes, storyboards, user and process flows, and clickable prototypes.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively, effectively, and collaboratively.
- Ability to present designs and influence solutions to various stakeholders.
- Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
- Past experience with product-related UX such as consumer goods, wearables, kiosks, or touch screens is a plus.
