Are you a creative designer with a background in print and web design looking for a challenging and interesting opportunity? A Richmond-based mid-sized public affairs firm is looking to hire a motivated professional to hit the ground running as its designer of both print and online creative. While it’s a designer position, understanding what’s needed to turn that creative design into a website is critical.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field, or equivalent design experience is required
  • Understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout composition.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other design software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Solid understanding of digital interfaces, responsive design (desktop, tablet, mobile), interactivity, and basic UX/UI principles
  • Mac proficient
  • Experience designing with a mobile-first mentality and building responsive websites
  • Familiarity with CMS environments (Drupal, Webflow and WordPress)
  • Ability to work full-time and on-site with regular attendance required

  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and make decisions when needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking skills to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Knowledge of HTML5/CSS and JS
  • Understanding of Drupal and/or WordPress
  • Knowledge of Bootstrap
  • Print production experience
  • An interest in politics, public policy or high-profile issues
