Role Overview
Avsar Construction is seeking an Associate Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. This role supports interior design projects with a focus on evaluating furniture, fixtures, and equipment needs, developing space plans, and ensuring compliance with safety, functionality, and aesthetic standards. The Associate Interior Designer will assist in project planning, scheduling, and installation, contributing to innovative and efficient solutions.
Responsibilities Assist in evaluating furniture, fixtures, and equipment needs, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, and standards. Develop space plans, architectural layouts, and select furnishings, equipment, and finishes in compliance with standards. Review construction documents and conduct site visits to ensure design concepts meet safety and functional requirements. Support project meetings, site evaluations, and status reviews. Collaborate on project schedules and coordinate furniture and equipment installations. Communicate with manufacturers and vendors regarding product specifications and custom design solutions. Prepare detailed reports and maintain comprehensive records for furniture and equipment provisioning. Update and manage lists of manufacturers, vendors, and products. Consult on product specifications, finishes, pricing, and procurement coordination. Create interior drawings and visual aids for client and stakeholder review. Assist with furniture and equipment replacements as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: At least six (6) years of full-time, paid professional experience in conceptualizing, planning, selecting, and coordinating interior layouts, finishes, furniture, and equipment. Education: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, preferably in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture, or related fields. OR Completion of 40 semester units or equivalent in a related field, plus two (2) additional years of professional experience.
Knowledge/Skills: Strong understanding of interior design principles, furniture and equipment specifications, space planning, and color theory. Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam. Familiarity with building codes, ADA, fire and life safety codes, and sustainability guidelines. Effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and operate design software like Revit. Capable of creating and managing project schedules, budgets, and timelines. Collaborative and adept at working with diverse stakeholders. Willingness to commute to job sites as needed.
