Work from home Jr Underwriter position supporting our McKinney, TX location. The Junior Underwriter will be responsible for screening life insurance applications. This person will work closely with the Clerks and Underwriters on all applicable daily tasks. They will be responsible for following underwriting guidelines, sending calls to obtain additional information, sending letters, and updating the system with the application’s disposition. In addition, they will be responsible for comparing current health information from the proposed insured to any health information we may have on file for the same person from previous policies to ensure there is no discrepancy. This role is crucial to the process and requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for screening life insurance applications for selection of risks rendering an issue standard, rate, or decline disposition with the guidance of an Underwriter or written guidelines. Implementation of underwriting policies and procedures related to the processing of new business. Implementation of medical guidelines using the Swiss Re Underwriting manual and AIL company notes. MIB Code reporting and interpretation of MIB code data. Review and evaluate results of agent verification calls and other underwriting phone calls. Review and evaluate motor vehicle records (MVRs). Review and evaluate prescription histories to determine associated health conditions. Implementation of underwriting processes as related to other department processes. Assist with other underwriting areas as deemed necessary by department management. Required Skills:

Critical thinking skills required on a daily basis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent PC skills: Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook; MS Access a plus. A combination of experience and education will be considered on an individual basis. Required Experience:

High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred. LOMA 280 & 290 would be strongly recommended within 1 year; pursuit of FMLI recommended. Medical terminology is a plus. Pursuit of LOMA Underwriting (UND) preferred. A combination of experience and education will be considered. Applicable to all employees of Globe Life & Accident and its subsidiaries:
