About This Role:
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patrons’ questions and providing information in person and on the phone.
- Assist patrons with technology equipment including printers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Check materials in/out and help locate materials.
- Create, update, and maintain patrons’ records using library software and databases.
- Interpret and explain library policy and procedures to patrons.
- Assist patrons with library services, resources, applications, and personal devices.
- Pull hold requests, tidy up shelves, assist with reports.
- Operate the cash register to collect fees.
- Participate in library and county outreach events.
- Attend training and meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
8th grade and 12 months of customer service experience.
Preferences:
- Experience assisting customers in a library or retail environment.
- Scheduling flexibility.
- Experience in cash handling, using a cash register.
- Able to adapt and problem solve in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams/Webex).
- Experience troubleshooting technology equipment including printers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Experience working in a team environment.
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This position is a part-time, non-exempt 20 hours a week which includes days, evenings, and weekend hours. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. The work schedules vary depending on the needs of the building. Montclair Library’s current hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm; Thursday-Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Weekend and evening work are required.
Starting Salary Range: $19.41 - $24.88
