We are seeking a patent attorney/patent engineer with experience in audio processing, speech/audio coding, spatial audio, and standards bodies such as MPEG, 3GPP, and ITU. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing audio codec portfolios and successfully prosecuting patent applications aligned with relevant standards, such as AMR, EVS, AAC, MPEG-H, MPEG-I, and IVAS. Speech/Audio coding and spatial audio experience are essential for this role.
Qualifications
Your skills and experience
You have:
- Expertise in audio codecs (e.g. EVS, AMR, AAC, MPEG-H, MPEG-I, IVAS).
- Experience in cellular communications and 3GPP standards.
- Broad knowledge of audio research and audio technology applications in virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive audio.
- Experience in filing and prosecuting patent applications.
- Experience in patent portfolio management.
- Experience in reviewing patent applications and generating claim charts.
- Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
It would be nice if you also had:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar area.
- Qualified as an EP patent attorney.
- Attendance and contribution to MPEG and/or 3GPP standardization meetings.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have a direct impact on the management and monetization of Nokia’s world-class Multimedia patent portfolio.
A representative list, but not exhaustive, of the main responsibility areas include:
- Evaluating ideas, reviewing invention disclosures, and collaborating with inventors.
- Filing and prosecuting patent applications.
- Securing granted patent applications with claims aligned with the relevant audio coding specifications.
- Overseeing and managing a personal patent portfolio.
- Performing prior-art searches and validity analysis on patents in speech/audio coding technology areas.
