Join our vibrant art community as a part-time Studio Director! This key role ensures the smooth operation of our studios and art classes while supporting the gallery's activities. Reporting to the La Grange Art League Board, the Studio Director oversees year-round class sessions, collaborates with the Executive Gallery Director, and helps cultivate an inspiring space for artists, instructors, and students alike.
KEY RESPONSIBILIES:
Instructor & Class Management:
- Onboard new instructors, including contractor agreements and W-9 forms.
- Organize, schedule, and manage studio classes/workshops for two (possibly three) studios.
- Maintain accurate class schedules, rosters, and updates on the Studio website pages.
- Notify instructors of rosters (if they cannot access the class log spreadsheet).
- Monitor class enrollment and cancel classes if attendance minimums aren’t met. Coordinate customer notifications and refunds as needed.
Marketing & Communication:
- Provide weekly updates on classes for promotion to the Marketing team.
- Collaborate with the Executive Gallery Director on updates, issues, and opportunities.
Gallery Operations:
- Manage the gallery 2-3 days per week (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), handling customer interactions, sales, framing orders, and general studio and gallery upkeep.
- Assist during special artist openings and events as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Track class/workshop registrations and update logs using the register and online systems.
- Maintain studio and youth waiver records on Google Drive.
- Regularly update the Studio Calendars and ensure schedules are accurate and accessible.
- Attend monthly Board meetings and provide studio reports.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Google Apps, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn and manage the backend of the website for class updates and other operational tools.
- Personal laptop for use at home and in the gallery.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor when engaging with instructors, students, and guests.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the Executive Gallery Director.
- Experience in art sales is a bonus!
Organizational Skills:
- Strong planning and multitasking abilities to manage classes, recruit teachers, and stay ahead of scheduling (3–6 months in advance).
- Detail-oriented approach to maintaining class records and calendars.
