Job Description

As a Principal Software UI/Frontend Engineer of the Netsec Visualization and Reporting team, you will collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and UI engineers to design and deliver innovative solutions that generate insights into our customers’ network security infrastructure and empower security administrators.

Your Impact

  1. Build highly graphical and scalable web application features that give customers insights into their firewalls and provide actionable solution suggestions.
  2. Work on complex problems that require in-depth evaluation of requirements and apply engineering techniques to obtain quality results.
  3. Identify problems and opportunities, propose and develop simple solutions to improve the team’s development process and product quality.
  4. Establish and implement engineering best practices, including test-driven development.
  5. Drive collaborative discussions and create synergy among product feature stakeholders.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  1. BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 9 years of related programming experience required.
  3. Experienced in modern web frameworks and build tools such as React, Redux, Hooks, Webpack, and npm/yarn.
  4. Experience with CSS/SCSS, AG Grid, and visualization libraries such as Highcharts, D3.js.
  5. Experience with creating responsive web applications.
  6. Ability to work well with a group of senior and junior engineers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  7. Experience with UI test frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, react-testing-library, Mocha.
  8. Experience with client-side modern build tools, and CI/CD.
  9. Experience with Git Version Control and Linux environments.
  10. Good grasp of asynchronous programming.
  11. Can-do attitude on problem-solving, quality, and ability to execute.
  12. Highly experienced in web application debugging and root-cause analysis.
  13. Knack for simple and intuitive Data Visualizations for impactful storytelling.

Nice to haves:

  1. Able to troubleshoot system-level integration and performance issues.
  2. Familiarity with micro frontend architecture patterns and best practices.
  3. Experience with containerizing applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
  4. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
  5. Experience working with Canvas & SVG is a plus.

The Team

The NetSec UI team is responsible for delivering UI solutions to our customers at Palo Alto Networks. Our team has a unique position in driving efforts to create accessible, performant, and cutting-edge UI and data visualization components/modules.

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. The starting base salary is expected to be between $180,000 - $230,000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus.
