Public Relations and Communications Manager

Zero Motorcycles is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and creative PR and Communications Manager to join our dynamic Global Marketing team. This individual will play a key role in managing day-to-day PR activities across North America, interfacing with external PR agencies, supporting key copywriting needs, and coordinating media outreach for both endemic and mainstream media outlets. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Brand Manager and cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic PR initiatives that elevate the brand's visibility in the competitive landscape of electric motorcycles.

What you will do:

  • Manage Day-to-Day PR Activities for North America:
    • Oversee daily PR operations for North American markets, ensuring a consistent brand voice and timely execution of PR activities.
    • Develop and implement regional PR strategies that align with global marketing initiatives.
  • Interface with External PR Agency:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for external PR agencies, managing relationships and ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Collaborate with agencies to develop press releases, media kits, and story angles that highlight brand milestones, product launches, and corporate initiatives.
  • Coordinate Product Shipments to Media contacts:
    • In conjunction with Fleet Coordinator, manage logistics for product shipments to editors, influencers, and key journalists, ensuring that all necessary materials (e.g., product information, press releases, imagery) are included.
    • Track product placements and ensure timely follow-ups with editorial teams.
  • Support Core Copywriting Needs for Marketing:
    • Write and edit press releases, product descriptions, blog posts, email campaigns, and other communications materials to support marketing initiatives.
    • Ensure all written content aligns with the brand's tone and messaging, supporting both B2B and B2C audiences.
  • Strategize on PR Angles for Endemic and Mainstream Media:
    • Develop creative PR angles for product launches, events, and campaigns tailored to both endemic (motorsports, technology, and automotive press) and mainstream media (lifestyle, environmental, and general interest outlets).
    • Stay up to date on industry trends and competitor PR activities to identify opportunities for proactive media engagement.
  • Draft and Manage Annual PR Activation Calendar:
    • Collaborate with the Global Brand Manager to create and maintain an annual PR activation calendar, mapping out key events, product launches, and media outreach activities.
    • Ensure that all activities are well-coordinated across internal teams and external partners.
    • Work closely with the European PR and Marketing teams to ensure alignment on global strategies and campaigns.
    • Share North American market insights with the European team to inform global messaging and initiatives.
  • Monitor PR Metrics and Reporting:
    • Track media coverage and PR outcomes, providing regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as press mentions, sentiment analysis, and audience reach. o Use data to refine strategies and optimize future PR campaigns.
  • Event Support and Media Relations:
    • Support the planning and execution of PR events, including press conferences, product unveilings, and media rides.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, influencers, and media contacts to foster strong media relations.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with the marketing, product, and social media teams to ensure integrated communication efforts.
    • Schedule and coordinate media interviews with Zero team members
    • Provide PR support for digital campaigns, ensuring a cohesive message across all channels.
What you will bring:
  • 1-3 years of PR and communications experience, ideally in automotive, motorsports, or consumer goods industries.
  • Experience working with external PR agencies and managing logistics for media outreach.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and a flair for storytelling.
  • Ability to develop strategic media outreach plans and pitch creative story ideas.
  • Proficiency with PR tools (e.g., Talkwalker, Meltwater) and social media platforms for media tracking and reporting.
  • Strong public speaking skills to confidently deliver engaging presentations and effectively communicate ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of digital PR and influencer engagement strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with media contacts and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about the motorcycle industry, electric vehicles, and sustainable technology.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate in real-time with internal and external stakeholders
  • While the majority of work is sedentary, and done either in face-to-face meetings, or on computers, the selected candidate must have the ability to navigate a showroom environment and move motorcycle from one place to another.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 40 lbs
  • Travel frequency will be 10-25%


Location

This position is on-site and will be located in Scotts Valley, California - just a short drive from Santa Cruz beaches, and Silicon Valley.

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $110,000 - $120,000. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to regular compensation, Zero offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
