Position Summary
Under the support and mentoring of the Director, Proposals, and Vice President, Commercial Operations, we are looking for a Senior Proposal Writer to join our team. The Senior Proposal Writer will collaborate with Business Development (Sales), Program Management, and Operations to generate proposals, statements of work (SOWs), and change orders that align with client needs in terms of scope, price, timeline, and deliverables. The role ensures that requests fit within the facility's capabilities and capacity.
The Proposals team is responsible for executing the proposal process efficiently, accurately, and with attention to detail. The Senior Proposal Writer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, standardize processes, and ensure profitability through cost productivity improvements. This position requires collaboration across cross-functional teams and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively at Scorpius BioManufacturing .
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication, project governance, and client satisfaction, while coordinating with stakeholders to develop and revise proposals, SOWs, and change orders.
- Evaluate incoming RFPs for feasibility and consult with relevant teams for clarity as needed.
- Facilitate meetings to define key sponsor drivers, scope of work, associated costs, and ensure alignment with site capabilities and capacity.
- Oversee all aspects of the proposal process, including gathering relevant information, cost estimates, internal reviews, and approvals from stakeholders (finance, legal, BD, operations, etc.).
- Prepare, manage, and proofread high-quality proposals, ensuring alignment with customer needs, timely completion, and efficient operations through updated templates and processes.
- Represent the Proposals Group during handover meetings to ensure seamless transition to other functional teams.
- Provide support for client site visits and teleconferences, addressing requests and explaining proposals professionally.
- Manage government proposal responsibilities, including reviewing RFPs for compliance, ensuring FAR/DFARS alignment, and tailoring submissions to government-specific requirements.
- Track and maintain SAM.gov registrations, compliance certifications, and documentation for government submissions.
- Collaborate on responses to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, ensuring adherence to mandated guidelines and schedules.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to develop robust business practices and processes.
Education & Experience
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (MS or PhD in Life Sciences preferred) OR equivalent work experience in a related industry.
- Experience with government proposal processes and familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations in a CDMO is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience leading a proposal team.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and mathematical abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of driving tasks to completion independently.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Candidate may need to travel to San Antonio for onboarding and to support client visits.
- Regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; encouraged to stand and walk frequently.
