The Role:

As a Senior Technical Editor, you will collaborate closely with representatives from member organizations across the global technology industry to edit, manage, and release specification content. With an emphasis on upstream engagement in the specification development process, you will apply editorial guidelines and technical communication best practices to deliver Bluetooth specifications. You will also ensure conformance to Bluetooth SIG policy and process requirements. The successful candidate will approach the role as a team player, partnering with external and internal teams in delivering content.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, edit, and release technical content in support of new Bluetooth wireless technology features
  • Serve as a vital collaborator and content liaison between internal SIG teams and external committees, groups, and taskforces
  • Contribute as a program representative to content-related projects
  • Lead or contribute to the creation of new and updated document style guidelines and templates
  • Maintain and consistently apply styles, guidelines, rules, and standard practices
  • Define and apply editorial practices, content strategy, information architecture, and readability to the delivery of Bluetooth content deliverables
  • Develop and maintain an airtight working knowledge of process requirements and ensure project-wide compliance
  • Lead planning, scheduling, and managing of content deliverables
  • Proactively lead or contribute to significant improvements in Bluetooth SIG processes for specification and content development across the broader organization
  • Establish and track key metrics and adhere to service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Supervise contract staff, as needed

Skills and Requirements:

  • 5-8+ years’ experience editing technical content for a technical audience
  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills; meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to negotiate with senior leaders and subject matter experts
  • Accountable team player
  • 5-8+ years of experience applying (and maintaining) styles and standards
  • 5-8+ years of experience interpreting, tailoring, and presenting technical information for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Very high level of Microsoft Office suite proficiency, including ability to work with templates and styles
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a globally distributed organization
  • 2-3 years of experience operating in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Highly proficient at documentation planning and project management
  • Experience collaborating on projects with Program/Product/Engineering organizations

Additional Skills for Consideration:

  • Experience with technology industry standards and standards development organizations is a plus
  • Presentation skills are a plus
  • Expertise in Paligo is a plus
  • Expertise in Fluid Topics is a plus
  • Experience managing contract staff is a plus
