Reporting to the Creative Services Director, Jr. Graphic Designer is an action-oriented position responsible for contributing to both the design and production of marketing assets used throughout Valley of the Sun JCC.
Jr. Graphic Designer will be charged with creative concept development and the translation and extension of brand concepts into effective visual designs for print, digital, social media, e-mail, and other campaigns. They will be a critical agent of change in the development of new and exciting strategies to build and strengthen our community connections.
In partnership with the Creative Services Director, they will ensure all marketplace creative is aligned with Valley of the Sun's brand positioning to deliver differentiation across target audiences with an external view to winning in the marketplace.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- You develop innovative design solutions independently and/or with senior team members for print and digital marketing assets and platforms, including but not limited to: Agency, Program, Development, Public Relations, and promotional materials as well as Digital and Social Media Assets.
- You work closely with the Creative Services Director and Marketing team to ensure execution of consistent Valley of the Sun and program brand standards across all materials.
- You communicate openly with team members and receive feedback.
- You update existing collateral pieces whenever changes are requested.
- You support the team throughout the execution of campaigns and projects, including management of timing and deliverables.
- You handle a number of projects simultaneously.
- You remain attentive to details at the proofing stages for all deliverables.
- You prepare and/or review all mechanical art produced.
- You assist in maintaining archive of graphic files, photos, and other agency assets.
Qualifications:
- Passion for building and growing community. Knowledge of, or involvement in, the Jewish Community a plus!
- Strategic thinking; must demonstrate the ability to take a wide view. Must be able to create, execute and manage a sound design plan.
- Creativity; needs to participate within a team responsible for growing an evolving, dynamic brand. Need to be open to new ideas, adventurous and practical simultaneously.
- Flexibility; need to be adaptable, open to taking on more and have the ability to adapt plans and direction as the business indicates.
- Entrepreneurial spirit; must be able to deal with ambiguity, willing to challenge the status quo and take appropriate risks as needed.
- Project management skills; must be able to manage simultaneous projects, budgets and deadlines - and plan, achieve and evaluate results individually and through others.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills; experience in content creation and/or copywriting will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited resources while still being creative and effective.
- Ability to prioritize work, use good judgment, pay attention to detail, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, and carry projects through to completion in a timely manner.
- Results-oriented team player with the ability to take initiative and drive programs.
- Must be highly self-motivated, personally & professionally resilient, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Amazing computer skills; Mac proficient; experience with MS Office - PowerPoint, Word, Excel; Adobe Acrobat, Adobe CS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; HTLML and CSS; WordPress.
- Knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.
- Must provide a link to an online portfolio to be considered.
Requirements
Experience:
2+ years working within an Advertising Agency or Design Studio environment.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts, Visual Design, or related field.
