Description of Work
The University Libraries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) seeks a highly collaborative Teaching & Learning Librarian to support diverse opportunities for information literacy learning in the agricultural and life sciences and/or engineering disciplines. The Sciences Teaching & Learning Librarian will sustain and enhance established relationships with faculty, students, and staff in scientific disciplines and related programs, as well as develop new teaching and learning opportunities. The Sciences Teaching & Learning Librarian is intellectually curious, passionate about information literacy, an enthusiastic teacher, and committed to equitable access to information.
This position is a Professor of Practice within the Libraries’ Teaching Partnerships unit. Members of Teaching Partnerships lead and support the Libraries’ efforts to develop students as critical users and creators of information.
The Sciences Teaching & Learning Librarian will join a cohort of new faculty members and will actively participate in the organizational transformation of the UNL Libraries.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with instructors on curriculum and teaching projects.
- Partner with instructors to coordinate library services and resources.
- Develop and conduct instructional sessions in credit-bearing courses.
- Develop and present extra- and co-curricular learning opportunities.
- Create learning resources, assignments, and assessments.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with instructors.
- Support the Libraries’ teaching and learning efforts through other strategic activities.
- Actively participate in the Teaching Partnerships department.
- Contribute to the teaching, learning, and pedagogical community of practice.
- Employ best practices in universal design for learning and digital pedagogy.
- Maintain awareness of trends in academic librarianship and information literacy.
- Participate as an active member of the Libraries’ faculty.
- Partner with other librarians to provide advanced reference consultation.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution, or terminal degree in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to work positively with colleagues and diverse constituencies.
- Familiarity with current conversations in information literacy.
- Familiarity with educational technology and best practices.
- Undergraduate degree in a science or science-related field.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with scientists/engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant coursework or research experience in life and agricultural sciences or engineering.
- Demonstrated experience connecting college curricula with academic library resources.
- Knowledge and experience in designing and assessing learning resources.
- Experience providing consultations in an academic library.
- Demonstrated commitment to public services.
