Video Producer Job at Society of Professional Journalists in Fort Wayne

Straight Arrow News is looking for an experienced evening digital news producer to join our team. The ideal candidate must be passionate about unbiased news and reporting that focuses on the facts rather than the spin. This individual will be a dynamic and compelling journalist who understands the complex issues of the day. This person must be able to pass an AP Style writing test.

Responsibilities:

• Research, write, and produce daily news stories on deadline.
• Review all scripts and segments prior to taping to ensure accuracy and balance.
• Fact check all copy and submissions from production staff to ensure accuracy.
• Work with the company’s senior staff to identify future newsworthy stories & events.
• Write compelling, accurate and SEO friendly copy to accompany all video content.

Qualifications:

• Exceptional writing skills
• Strong news judgement and understanding of major news stories and issues
• Proven ability to independently proofread and correct broadcast scripts and digital copy prior to airtime/publication
• 3+ years producing experience for digital news site
• Open to the use of emerging technologies and advancement in the news industry.
• Familiarity with Google Docs, WordPress, and Slack (or equivalent applications / demonstrated proficiency in mastering new content management systems, production software and communication platforms)
• Understanding of basic news-specific SEO practices (Google Trends research, etc.)
• Basic familiarity with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro)
• Collaborative self-starter

Job Type: Full-time (Evenings required and some holidays)

Experience:

· Journalism: 3 years (Required)
