You Will

The Program Office supports the Movement by developing inclusive, innovative, and relevant national programs that fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The teams in this community are responsible for the full lifecycle management of national programs for both youth and adult members. Work includes development and publication of program content across areas including outdoor, life skills, entrepreneurship, STEM, global citizenship, travel, and leadership awards; cultivation of national program partnerships; and adult support and training.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Writer (Spanish/English) is responsible for writing, re-writing, and editing program materials and content for the Girl Scout experience for K–12—in print, online, multimedia, and other formats—in both Spanish and English. The Writer can edit their own work and has strong grammar skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must have writing and editing experience that has been written for kids.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish.
  • Creates, researches, writes and rewrites print and digital Girl Scout resources for multiple formats and in a variety of writing styles for girl and adult audiences.
  • Understands the overall strategy and brand vision of Girl Scouts and applies that knowledge to all products produced or copy edited by the program and volunteer team.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to drive volunteer satisfaction and achievement of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

  • Editorial skills: High level of editing and writing skills, specifically related to K–12 informal education and adult learning.
  • Youth development: High level of understanding of how girls learn and act in out-of-school time activities.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice (DEIRJ): High level of understanding of how to construct inclusive and accessible programs.
  • Project management skills: Ability to synthesize input from a range of key stakeholders and manage details on multiple projects.
  • Cross-cultural skills: Ability to understand people across cultures and engage with them meaningfully.
  • Communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly across verticals.
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to analyze, organize, and synthesize information.

  • Adaptability: Able to remain flexible in response to rapidly changing information.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Office 365 or similar suites
  • Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel or similar software
  • Functional knowledge of print and digital production

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a corporate environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

☒ Bilingual - Fluent in Spanish is a MUST

Salary Range $60,900.00 - $80,000.00. This pay range is only applicable to NYC Metro-based employees, on a hybrid schedule.
