POSITION PURPOSE Overall responsibility for sales operations includes designing plans to meet sales targets, developing and cultivating relationships with clients, and evaluating costs to determine their products pricing when selling to customers. For total revenue and yield strategies, implementation, and results, including group and transient rooms, group food and beverage, meeting room rental, and local catering. Strategies will include market mix, pricing, direct sales, marketing, acquisition status, and results. Maximize profitability for the hotel and provide outstanding quality service for the customers. Accountable to market and potential performance as well as budget, forecast, and target goals.Participate in total hotel management as a member of the hotel Executive Committee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for leading & driving top-line revenue for traditional sales segments including group, volume transient & catering. Assesses & reacts to market trends, market share & the competitive hotel environment. Understand industry-specific trends and landscapes. Build and maintain long-lasting, strong relationships with customers while collaborating with them to have better understand their business objectives and needs. Effectively communicate value propositions through presentations and proposals. Report on forces that shift strategic directions of accounts and tactical budgets. Develops and implements a marketing communications plan designed to achieve the hotel's desired positioning. Manages the sales and marketing budget that supports all initiatives. Act as the hotels voice of the customer and communicate key issues/concerns at all levels of the organization. Fluent in reading/assimilating/using Smith Travel Research data, financial P&L, sales mix, forecasting, group pace/position & a wide array of traditional hotel reporting. Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand, and economic factors affecting hotel performance. Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews and SWOT analysis & monitor new supply. Understand GEO source & ability to develop a plan to penetrate the primary markets. Develop/implement key segment strategy & manage key accounts (both existing & target). Design effective sales deployment schemes & market assignments. Develop sales goals designed to achieve budget & market share targets. Manage group pace measurement and set sales production goals. Manage sales activity & travel schedule. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Supervisory experience is required. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines Comply with WHR Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions. EXPERIENCE Five to seven years of sales and marketing leadership in similar operations sizes is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills Proven ability to drive the sales process from start to finish Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of services and products Knowledge of how to develop client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions Understanding of how to position products against competitors Licenses or Certificates Not applicable.
