Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the senior editorial director for newsletters in order to identify opportunities for newsletter portfolio growth that align with newsletter program goals and business goals.
- Design, execute, and optimize lead generation efforts across various channels that create quality new leads through the email channel.
- Develop and nurture long-term, productive local and regional newsroom partnerships for cross-promotional list growth opportunities that reach new audiences
- Work cross-functionally with paid media teams to coordinate complimentary newsletter lead generation tactics.
- Work cross-functionally with consumer revenue and analytics teams to analyze the quality of leads by referral source and optimize for highest performing referral source.
- Collaborate with editorial teams to create valuable gated content for lead capture
- Regularly clean and maintain email lists to ensure high deliverability rates
- Monitor and improve list hygiene metrics (e.g., bounce rates, unsubscribe rates)
- Conduct A/B tests on sign-up forms, landing pages, and lead magnets
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as list growth rate, conversion rate, and cost per lead and provide regular reports on list growth and health to stakeholders
- Ensure all list growth activities comply with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM) and best practices for ethical list building
- Educate team members on proper list growth and management techniques
- Work closely with content, design, and development teams to create effective sign-up experiences
- Travel, as required, to partners or events.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Digital Media, or related field
3-5 years of experience in email growth or lead generation roles
Proven track record of growing and managing large email lists
Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making
Proficiency in email marketing platforms and CRM systems
Excellent understanding of cross-platform growth channels and tactics
Strong project management and organizational skills
Effective communication and presentation skills, be highly organized, demonstrate consistent success, and have a ‘test and learn’ mentality.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with marketing automation tools and workflows
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS for optimizing sign-up forms and landing pages
- Familiarity with SEO principles for organic list growth
- Understanding of user experience (UX) design for optimizing conversion paths
This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance aggressive growth targets with maintaining list quality and subscriber engagement. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, creative, and passionate about building a valuable email audience.
The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. For this role, we will consider candidates who are based anywhere in the United States.
