Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one lessons (Using KeepSAfe guidelines), vocal instruction (Group or Solo) and other musical instruction.
- Teach and/or lead Corps Brass Band and Singing Company
- Secure, organize, maintain and provide constant upkeep of all equipment, instruments, and files of the Corps music department.
- Facilitate the participation of students during “Music Sundays” which take place at least 1 Sunday per month
- Prepare students for participation in Divisional and Territorial “Star Search” music and arts competition. Assist with logistics of transportation, chaperoning, preparation, and leading on competition date.
- Encourage and support youth participation in Divisional music and arts programs by making sure participants are ready for auditions, music camps, and conservatories.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Keep and record statistical information pertaining to youth, music, and creative arts programs at the Corps
- Assist with seasonal fundraising campaigns and special concerts/events
- Any other task as designated by the Corps Officer(s) that would be beneficial to the continued development and growth of the Manhattan Citadel Corps.
Qualifications
- Must be bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Must have basic office skills including the use of computers.
- Minimum Associate Degree in a related field or two years of college in education or youth work or 2 years of equivalent experience working with youth and music ministries.
- Must have musical ability in Brass Band, Theory, Vocal, and other Instrumental Instruction such as Piano, Guitar, Bass, etc.
- Strong Communications skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, dependability, creativity, and ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team.
- Ability to support, instruct and connect with campers, staff, and Corps leaders.
- Be self-motivated and hard working.
