Piping Designer
The Piping Designer, sometimes referred to as a Process Designer, is responsible for creating detailed designs and layouts for piping systems, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards, standards, and project requirements. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills and is interested in being involved with multiple projects at a time. We are looking for someone with minimal experience who wants to learn from industry experts and grow their career.
Responsibilities and Scope
Gathers field data and uses the design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
Ensures quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables by following the Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards
Develops detailed designs, layouts, and specifications for piping systems
Assists with developing piping project documents: Scope of Work, Line List, Tie-In List, and project-specific lists
Assists with Equipment List, Trap Schedules and Stress Analysis when necessary
Creates accurate 2D and 3D models using computer-aided design (CAD) software, specifically with AutoCAD and Plant3D
Confirms discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 2D drawings, 3D models, and/or site scans
Collaborates with engineers, designers, project managers, and other project stakeholders to understand project requirements, design objectives, and client specifications
Meets project scope, schedule, budget, and expectations of quality
Participates in construction support activities if required
Understands the role of other disciplines and overall project requirements during the project lifecycle
May participate in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables before issuance
Qualifications
High School Diploma required
3+ years of experience in a similar role
Proficient in AutoCAD 2D; experienced with Plant 3D strongly preferred
Ability to identify equipment and types
Experience with clash detection in Navisworks preferred
Able to create piping documents: plans, sections, details, and isometrics, and to create equipment layouts from scope of work
