About the Role
The Company is seeking a Librarian Executive Director to lead its transition into a 21st-century global resource. The successful candidate will work closely with the organization's leadership to define and realize a new future, ensuring that practicing healthcare professionals have access to library resources and services. This role involves managing the budget, monitoring expenditures, and exploring new funding sources, including grants. The Executive Director will also be responsible for collection management, including the preservation of rare books and special collections, and overseeing the digitization and online presence of the library. Marketing the organization's brand and services, as well as cultivating collaborations with the scholarly community, are also key aspects of the position. Applicants must have at least 5 years' of administrative and supervisory library experience, with a strong background in digital technologies and a good understanding of institutional library environments. Experience with rare books and manuscripts collections is essential, and knowledge of medical libraries or medical history is highly desirable. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in leadership, project management, and the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will have an American Library Association accredited master's degree and a collaborative, responsive management style that fosters trust and effective working relationships.
