Position: PC Authorization Coordinator The PC Authorization Coordinator is primarily responsible for securing financial clearance for the patient, provider, and health system. The coordinator works closely with the administrative, clinical, and management teams to support practice operations and customer service recovery and intervention efforts. Key Responsibilities: Provides support for financial clearance functions including authorizations, PAFRs, LOAs billing, and RFIs. Works independently to resolve billing-related issues in APeX (Epic) to help maximize payor reimbursement and RVU charge capture. Performs detailed review of medical record documentation to answer billing/authorization level questions. Works assigned authorization and billing work queues (WQs) daily to assist in minimizing denials. Maintains all routine clerical operations and communications. The PC Authorization Coordinator must have a basic understanding of healthcare terminology, processes, and workflow, as well as healthcare billing/authorizations to make informed decisions and resolve account issues. This position requires the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well with all levels of staffing, including faculty, management, and coworkers both within and outside of the unit. Adheres to the UCSF House and Telephone Standards and is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. The PC is a team player who works closely with others and is flexible in dealing with changing priorities. Requires a self-reliant individual who synthesizes knowledge of practice operations as well as billing operations to problem-solve, prioritize, and facilitate complex transactions in the course of daily activities. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent customer service, facilitating, and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff, departments, and insurance companies to maximize unit efficiency. The PC is required to work at any UCSF campus as needed and scheduled. Salary Information:

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $29.68 - $42.48 (Hourly Rate).
