As the Commerce Writer, you will play a crucial role in helping our 55+ audience make the best buying decisions.

About the role:

This role will work alongside the Commerce Editor to ideate and write content across all verticals - from walking canes to wrinkle creams, to coffee makers and everything in between. The writer will create deals, lists, product one-offs, reviews, researched and tested best-of lists, newsletters, and educational features. The Writer will collaborate with internal teams to create engaging and insightful content that will elevate audience engagement within the shopping section.

We seek a skilled, forward-thinking journalist with at least five years of experience who is comfortable conducting interviews, testing products at home, researching in-depth health topics, and covering timely deals and trending products that can help improve everyday life. Familiarity with SEO best practices and measuring performance against SEO and revenue metrics is preferred.

If you're passionate about helping baby boomers navigate the digital retail world and creating meaningful content that genuinely assists consumers, this role is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.

What you'll do:

  • Pitch, write, and optimize trending and evergreen best lists, product reviews, trends and deals within commerce and the retail space.
  • Use testing rubrics and scoring methodologies to evaluate and rank products, brands and services as they relate to a 55+ audience.
  • Collaborate with SEO, design and product teams to execute strategy, monitor performance, optimize content and improve processes, where needed.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the AOL audience and its consumption habits through testing, learning and iterating on topics, article formats and other optimizations.
  • Curate quality first-party content for the homepage and shopping content channel.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in journalism, communications or copywriting with proven bylines in product buying advice.
  • Rigorous research, sourcing, reporting and writing skills to ensure in-depth, high-quality and reader-focused content in plain, accessible language.
  • Understanding of SEO, reader intent, affiliate marketing and editorial best practices.
  • Experience with editorial style, voice and tone as well as the principles of editorial independence.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills that help move business goals forward.
  • Team player who can collaborate with and take direction from colleagues.
  • Innovative mindset with a keen eye for identifying audience trends and consumption preferences.
  • Positive attitude and spirit to tackle any content-related challenge a growing team may face.

If you're interested in the role, we encourage you to apply - even if you don't meet every bullet in our list. You just might be the right candidate for this role or another within AOL.
