Music Graduate Assistant

Job Summary:

The Graduate Assistant will assist in specific areas of the Music Department. Specific departmental areas include band, choral, orchestral, music education, jazz, and/or music therapy area. Areas will be assigned based on candidate’s expertise. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Description of Job Duties:

• Assist faculty/staff in supporting the classrooms, labs, and department.
• Setting up, picking up, and checking-in classroom items for class/practice.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

• Employment at will.
• Reports to Chair of Music.
• Safety and job-related trainings will be completed as instructed.
• Eligible to receive a tuition waiver each semester.
• Graduate Assistant must maintain a minimum of 2.50 GPA and be enrolled in at least 5 hours of classes for the fall and spring semesters.
• A Graduate Assistant should be working at a level higher than an undergraduate student employee, such as teaching/instructing undergraduates in or out of the classroom as assigned, critiquing/grading undergraduate work/skills, etc.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree completed; enrolled in graduate program and working in field of study.
