We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to lead the development and deployment of scalable, automated Global Video Delivery Solutions (CDN capacity management, video delivery services etc). The ideal candidate is passionate about leading and building strong software engineering teams and is equally obsessed about delivering the best possible customer experiences. You will lead the team in defining software architecture and drive key performance and quality metrics. You will communicate effectively with engineers, partners, leaders, and a broad set of stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for your team
- Hire, manage and grow a team of software engineers, including their projects, performance, and career growth
- Clearly communicate project roadmaps with your team, management, and principal stakeholders
- Collaborate with peers, Product managers, and Principal Engineers to deliver highly impactful projects
- Drive continual architectural improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform while keeping an extremely high bar on customer trust, performance, and availability
- Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction, and diplomacy
A day in the life
Working with the Product leader and your team leads to keep an eye on the implementation of strategic initiatives (CDN Capacity Management, Feature development, Re-engineering for scale etc). People management includes 1:1s with your team to keep a pulse on group morale and sub-team challenges. You will also hold strategic meetings with senior leadership and update leadership on relevant program statuses. Operations management involves reviewing production metrics and dashboards to monitor global video delivery for Prime Video.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.
