We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer with expertise in adult learning principles. Exposure and experience in construction or manufacturing is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, impactful training programs in a business setting. In this role, you will be responsible for creating effective learning experiences that enhance employee performance, compliance, and skill development for office-based and field employees.

As a Senior / Instructional Designer, you will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to develop tailored learning solutions that meet both business and employee needs. You will lead complex design projects, collaborate with cross-functional leaders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of training strategies and materials. You will work in alignment with the ATD Capability Model and its emphasis on talent development core competencies such as instructional design, adult learning, technology, and evaluation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Design & Development:
    Support and drive the design and development of comprehensive, engaging, and effective learning programs for office-based and field teams. Utilize a wide variety of delivery methods (e.g., e-learning, instructor-led training, blended learning, written job-aids, video, email, text, shared resource sites, etc.) selecting the right modality to align with learning outcomes and audience. Ensure that all designs meet principals of adult learning while balancing organizational needs and objectives.
  • Learning Technology Optimization:
    Optimize learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools (e.g., Articulate), and emerging learning technologies to create, manage and deliver digital content. Stay updated on trends in learning tech to continually improve our learning technologies. Ensure our tech solutions are innovative, organized, and effective.
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:
    Ensure systems for tracking learner progress, course evaluations, and learning assessments are implemented effectively. Support the measurement of impact through qualitative and quantitative methods. Support the analysis of feedback to refine learning solutions and improve future learning programs.
  • Project Management:
    Complete multiple simultaneous instructional design projects by ensuring clear communication, meeting deadlines and deliverables, and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    Serve as an advocate for the benefits and methodologies of talent development. Partner and consult with business leaders, SMEs, and frontline workers to identify skill gaps, performance improvement opportunities, and compliance requirements. Leverage formal and informal needs analysis to align training initiatives with business goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design in business with focus on adult learning strategies. Proven experience designing learning programs from scratch that are measurably impactful and efficient. Demonstrated expertise designing and delivering e-learning, blended learning, and instructor-led training programs.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.). Proficient with learning management systems (LMS) and intranet platforms (e.g. SharePoint).
  • Soft Skills:
    Exceptional communication, diplomatic, and critical thinking skills to consult effectively with stakeholders. Tenacious problem-solving abilities to ensure progress even in the face of setbacks and day-to-day frustrations.

Working Conditions:
Office environment, occasional visits to active construction sites.
