Job Summary
The Director is responsible for the overall Marketing strategy for MCRS including planning, developing, and directing advertising and marketing activities. This role oversees the Player Development Department, Promotions, Advertising, Winners’ Club, and Graphics Departments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Establish an annual Marketing Plan to support the goals of the organization, including market share and profitability.
- Direct research activities to gather information and statistics pertinent to maximize database marketing activities. Plan and execute advertising and promotional campaigns to minimize the effects of competitive activity.
- Plan and oversee the organization’s advertising and promotional activities including print, electronic, and direct mail utilizing in-house and outside agencies.
- Control department budget and take corrective action to ensure that programs are within budget and on time.
- Evaluate reactions to marketing programs and meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Recommend changes to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives and to move swiftly to counter marketing problems.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Requires strong leadership and motivational skills. Will interact with various levels of staff, management, government officials, and the public.
- Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; grooming standards, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Qualifications
Five years of casino experience with in-depth knowledge of advertising, promotions, entertainment design, special events, direct mail, player tracking, and public contracts. Team leader and innovator relating to marketing concepts. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information. Must be competent with various PC-based software programs. Ability to tactfully and diplomatically deal with the public and staff. Must possess excellent business sense and high professional ethics. A high regard for guest service and team member relations is essential.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a related field. Five to ten years of marketing experience with a minimum of three years of casino managerial experience and the ability to handle a high volume, fast-paced environment.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Exceptional reading, writing, and public speaking skills are important to the successful conduct of this position. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, rates, ratios, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply legal, regulatory, and procedural concepts and policy to practical situations. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The team member is occasionally required to sit. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is a fast-paced work environment, and the position requires the ability to cope with it. The casino environment has moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment.
WORKING HOURS:
Because we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most positions require flexibility in scheduling and may require team members to be available for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. A typical workweek and normal work schedules may vary based on business needs and may include scheduled shifts from Monday through Sunday. The position may require overtime.
