Job Title: Senior Technical Writer

Location: Wichita, KS/ Relocation bonus

Remote/Onsite: Onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $65k - $70k


Job Description:

Maintenance Manual Author

  • Create and revise maintenance documents, including maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, non-destructive testing manuals, tool & equipment manuals, and component maintenance manuals, using engineering database information, engineering drawings, functional tests, and other sources.
  • Provide customers with detailed aircraft continued airworthiness instructions.
  • Submit work packages to create illustrations to accompany maintenance document instructions for use in technical publications.
  • Conduct self and peer quality checks of completed work packages for accuracy and consistency.
  • Follow established procedures and improve procedures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with core teams, engineers, and customer service representatives to validate maintenance document procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in an aviation-related field or equivalent experience authoring technical documents.
  • A&P license or military aviation maintenance experience with Technical Orders is a plus.
  • Understanding of engineering data and ability to research and analyze engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of aircraft operation, aircraft systems, aircraft maintenance practices, manufacturing, and GAMA/ATA guidelines.
  • Experience using SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, or equivalent tools in an authoring environment.
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Flight Document Author

Responsibilities:

  • Create and revise flight documents such as Airplane Flight Manuals, Pilot’s Abbreviated Checklists, Operating Manuals, Pilot’s Operating Handbooks, and Technical Orders using engineering flight test information.
  • Conduct self and peer quality checks of completed work packages for accuracy and consistency.
  • Follow established procedures and improve procedures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with core teams, engineers, and customer service representatives to validate flight document procedures.

Education:

  • Degree in an aviation-related area preferred or equivalent experience authoring technical documents.
  • Pilot’s license, A&P license, or military aviation experience with Technical Orders is a plus.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret engineering and technical source data.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of aircraft systems and operations.
  • Experience using SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, or equivalent tools in an authoring environment.
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
