Position Summary:

The Senior Web Developer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's public-facing website and internal knowledge center. This role requires a strong understanding of web development principles, including front-end and back-end technologies, as well as a keen eye for design and user experience. The ideal candidate will be a creative and results-oriented individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Website Management and Maintenance:

Ensure website accuracy and currency by regularly reviewing pages for outdated information, broken links, and technical issues. Troubleshoot and resolve website-related problems promptly and efficiently. Develop and implement strategies to improve website performance, user experience, and search engine optimization (SEO).

Content Creation and Management:

Develop high-quality website content, including graphics and written materials, that adhere to industry standards, brand guidelines, and best practices in web accessibility. Collaborate with program offices across the command to gather and curate accurate and engaging website content. Coordinate content updates and ensure consistency across all website platforms.

Technical Expertise:

Develop and maintain website functionality using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure website compliance with DoD regulations and Web Accessibility Solution 508 standards. Stay abreast of the latest web development technologies and best practices.

Project Management:

Manage website projects effectively, including planning, execution, and delivery. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and manage timelines. Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful outcomes.

Communication and Collaboration:

Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including program managers, subject matter experts, and internal teams. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of professional experience in web development, including experience with front-end and back-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, etc.). Strong understanding of web design principles, user experience (UX), and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG). Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla. Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
