Position Description | Communications & Fundraising Associate Location: Washington Jesuit Academy, 900 Varnum Street NW, Washington, DC 20017 Reports To: Chief Advancement Officer Position Overview: The Communications & Fundraising Associate at Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA) is a dynamic role that combines on campus and event photography, social media management, and donor engagement. This individual will support WJA’s efforts to raise awareness, build donor relationships, and promote the mission through compelling content creation, strategic outreach, and stewardship of both new and younger donors. Key Responsibilities: Event Photography and Documentation Capture high-quality photographs and videos at school and donor events, including fundraisers, community gatherings, and donor-related activities (day and evening events). Ensure images and videos align with the organization’s brand guidelines and are used for marketing, social media, and donor stewardship purposes. Edit and organize media files for both digital and print uses. Social Media Management and Content Creation Assist with the development and scheduling of engaging social media content across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.). Share event highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and impact stories to foster engagement with supporters. Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to enhance the organization’s online presence. Donor Engagement and Stewardship Support in building relationships with new and younger donors by scheduling meetings, making thank-you calls, and sending personalized notes of appreciation. Assist in the creation of stewardship materials, including donor impact reports, newsletters, and thank-you packages. Keep accurate and updated records of donor communications in the donor management system (Raiser’s Edge/NXT). Fundraising Support Provide administrative support, as needed, for fundraising campaigns, including managing event logistics, drafting donor communications, and assisting with campaign strategy implementation. Assist in tracking and acknowledging donations, ensuring all donor contributions are properly recognized and documented. Event Support and Attendance Attend and provide on-site support at organizational events, including setup, guest engagement, and post-event follow-up (day and evening events). Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth event execution and support fundraising goals. General Administrative and Communications Support Assist with drafting content for newsletters, email marketing campaigns, and website updates. Help maintain the organization’s brand consistency across all communications. Provide additional support for other communications and fundraising projects as needed. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in communications, social media management, or fundraising in a non-profit setting. Technical Skills: Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and experience in baseline photo/video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva). Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable with attending donor meetings, both in person and virtually. Strong relationship-building abilities. Communication Skills: Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences. Organization and Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy. Flexible and Collaborative: Comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment, with periodic in-person events and teamwork with various stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with donor database software (e.g., Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, DonorPerfect, etc.). Knowledge of fundraising best practices.
