This full-time permanent position serves as editor of the North Carolina Governor’s Papers for the Office of Archives and History, building on over a century of work by collecting, transcribing, analyzing, and digitally publishing the papers of North Carolina’s governors. The Governor’s Papers Editor works equally as a historian and editor to share the meaning and value of the state’s gubernatorial records by selecting primary sources, researching and explaining those materials, creating metadata as appropriate, and preparing accompanying interpretive materials, such as exhibits. The sources, transcriptions, essays, and exhibits will be published through MosaicNC, an online publishing platform. Applicants should be comfortable working on constructing a digital database of historical material for a public audience.
