Key job responsibilities
- As a Software Developer on the team, you’ll be responsible for taking on challenging technical and customer problems and building and maintaining quality products and systems.

A day in the life
As a Senior Software Developer on the team, you’ll be responsible for designing the architecture of the most challenging technical problems and building and maintaining quality products and systems. You should be able to lead your team working with a variety of partners to help define our experiences and requirements, and work with your teammates to deliver delightful experiences to our customers. About the team
The Alexa News Cortex team is responsible for producing the most personalized and delightful news experiences for customers. We work on LLM based content curation, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and large scale back-end services to help deliver blazing fast news experiences to our customers. On our team, you’ll work directly with our customer facing experiences and services, you’ll work to ensure that customers always hear the news that matters most to them.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
