Position Summary
Our Los Angeles office is searching for a forward-thinking Design Technology Specialist to join our global BIM and Computational Design team. In this hybrid role, you will split your time between our Los Angeles office and remote work, collaborating with project teams to drive excellence in BIM adoption, champion cultural change, and foster continuous technological innovation. The ideal candidate will be passionate about implementing new technologies, improving workflows, and mentoring teams in the effective use of digital tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive BIM Workflows
    Collaborate with project teams from initial design through final delivery to maximize the potential of BIM at every stage.
  • Maintain Standards & Protocols
    Ensure adherence to our established BIM guidelines, and help refine policies, procedures, and best practices as technology evolves.
  • Provide Training & Support
    Offer training, troubleshooting, and daily assistance to elevate the office’s skill set in BIM and other design technology tools.
  • Advance Global Integration
    Coordinate with cross-office teams and leadership to align on global design technology strategies, ensuring consistent standards and practices.
  • Grow Digital Asset Libraries
    Identify and develop robust content libraries—parametric Revit families, digital details, and more—to streamline future projects.
  • Research & Implement Emerging Technologies
    Stay informed about industry trends and emerging design tools, evaluating potential benefits for the firm and introducing new applications where appropriate. Make recommendations for R&D initiatives that can bolster project outcomes.
  • Support Collaboration & Coordination
    Partner with project managers, studio directors, and broader leadership to monitor BIM progress and resource needs. Champion open communication and knowledge sharing across disciplines, including advising on relevant design technology skills to resource projects effectively.

Role Qualifications

  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural design or related fields, with at least 2 years focusing on BIM management.
    • Demonstrated ability to set up, manage, and optimize BIM workflows on complex projects.
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Expert knowledge of Revit and ACC, as well as Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
    • Familiarity with Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, and/or Dynamo for computational design and data interoperability.
    • General understanding of architectural and engineering collaboration and coordination throughout design phases.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on clear instruction and proactive problem-solving.
    • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Collaboration and Implementation
    • Experience working with stakeholders to understand design challenges and improve project delivery outcomes through appropriate design technology approaches.
    • Skilled at leading the adoption of new tools, processes, and skills to design studios including BIM, computational design, and citizen development.
  • Programming & Scripting
    • Experience with C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages to develop custom tools and enhance design workflows.
  • Visualization & Immersive Technologies
    • Background in real-time rendering or game engines for advanced design presentations and integration with Digital Twins and Reality capture tools.
    • Familiarity with immersive collaboration platforms
  • Industry Standards
    • Hands on experience delivering projects through Design-Bid-Build and Desing-Build and/or Integrated Project Delivery project methodologies.
    • Knowledge of global BIM standards such as ISO 19650.

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000-$105,000. We will consider relevant experience, qualifications, location and other job-related factors in determining compensation.
