SUMMARY STATEMENT: Under the direction of the Communications Director, serve as creative project manager for all member communications, including but not limited to email newsletters, website content, social media and "SC Lawyer" magazine. Coordinate messaging across multiple platforms to engage a broad audience.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Develop and maintain the Bar's content calendar to include major events, news items, continuing legal education opportunities, awards, section and committee projects, and other pertinent information relevant to South Carolina's legal community.
  1. Serve as primary Communications contact for Bar sections and committees, coordinating with staff liaisons and members on the status of and deadlines for requested newsletters, announcements, website content, and other special projects.
  1. Collect and edit content for weekly eBlast newsletter, working with Communications Director on design, branding, and analytics to track engagement and opportunities for growth.
  1. Manage the Bar's multiple social media channels, to include developing strategy for sharing key Bar and member stories; writing and scheduling posts; organizing and overseeing accompanying graphic elements (to include some design work if needed); and working with the Communications Director to track engagement and opportunities for growth.
  1. Manage content updates to the Bar website, to include news items, calendar items and other areas as assigned.
  1. As staff liaison to the "SC Lawyer" magazine Editorial Board, distribute pitches and articles, follow up with authors, coordinate meetings and prepare meeting agendas and reports.
  1. Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field; excellent writing and communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software; familiarity with the AP Stylebook; experience with various social media platforms; ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects; ability to travel as needed.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Five years of relevant professional experience; familiarity with project management software and internal communications strategy; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and/or other graphic design tools; photography experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, office equipment and meet with staff. Ability to lift to 20 pounds. Ability to travel several times per year.
