Position Title: Marketing Coordinator
Location: Remote, but located within 2 hrs driving distance of Costa Mesa, CA
Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications
Department: Marketing and Communications
Status: Full-Time
Salary: $70-75K, depending on experience
Starting Date: March 17, 2025
LOCATION
Remote, but must be located within two hours driving distance of the CHP 11-99 Foundation office in Costa Mesa, CA as occasional travel to the office and within Orange County is required (1-2 times/month for the day, then another 1-2 times annually overnight for events)
HOURS & REPORTING
37.5 - 40 hours, depending on needs of the organization. The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications, and works closely with every staff member.
ABOUT THE CHP 11-99 FOUNDATION
The CHP 11-99 Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1982 that supports California Highway Patrol (CHP) employees and their families, providing emergency assistance in times of need, and scholarships to children of CHP employees. The 11-99 Foundation promotes safety and community engagement with CHP (locally, regionally, and across the state). We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of our heroes who protect and serve, through various programs and initiatives. Membership is a large and integral component of the CHP 11-99 Foundation’s programs and revenue source and is a key focus of marketing initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the Foundation's marketing efforts by developing and executing communications strategies, managing social media channels and websites, creating promotional materials, and assisting with event marketing. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented professional with a passion for the mission of the CHP 11-99 Foundation and a commitment to advancing its goals through impactful marketing strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation & Strategy:
- Assist in developing and executing marketing and communication strategies for the Foundation’s programs, events, and initiatives.
- Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media, emails, website, and print materials.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging is aligned with organizational objectives and values.
Social Media Management:
- Manage the Foundation’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) by creating & scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring performance metrics.
- Focus on short-form video creation
- Develop social media campaigns to raise awareness and increase engagement with the Foundation’s supporters and community.
- Track and report on social media analytics to measure success and inform future campaigns.
Email Marketing Management:
- Manage the Foundation’s email marketing program by creating and scheduling campaigns, PSAs, and monitoring performance metrics.
- Develop & manage new email marketing automation programs
- Track and report on analytics to measure success and inform future campaigns.
Event Marketing Support:
- Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of Foundation events (e.g., fundraisers, golf tournaments, scholarship ceremonies, drawings/raffles, community outreach programs, public awareness campaigns).
- Create promotional materials (digital and print) to drive attendance and support for events.
- Assist with event websites, online auctions, day-of support at events
- Collaborate with event team to ensure cohesive messaging and effective marketing materials.
Brand Consistency:
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all marketing channels and materials.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the Foundation’s brand image and visual identity, align with CHP departmental messaging
Community and Donor Engagement:
- Support outreach efforts to engage the Foundation’s community, including donors, volunteers, and CHP.
- Assist in developing donor communications, including thank-you letters, annual report, impact reports, and appeals.
Administrative Support:
- Help track marketing budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of Foundation assets.
- Assist in the creation and management of marketing timelines and project deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field. Experience in non-profit marketing is a plus.
- Strong experience with social media platforms, email marketing, content creation, and digital marketing strategies.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms, and Mailchimp (or similar program).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is a plus.
- Experience with Canva, must have a natural eye for graphic design and understand basic design principles
- Basic knowledge of WordPress, SEO, Google Analytics is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and grow in the role.
- Passion for the mission of the CHP 11-99 Foundation and supporting the CHP community (and law enforcement in general)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to travel locally for events and meetings as needed (to Costa Mesa office 1-2x/month, and locally around Orange County for various events)
- Must have reliable form of transportation, and pass standard criminal and driving record background check
