JOB PURPOSE

Our Lower School performing arts program begins in PK and delivers general music with violin integration starting in grades 1-4, and ensemble options starting in 5th grade. Teacher will implement the established music curriculum through well-planned, engaging lessons and activities that facilitate active learning experiences and increase student achievement.

Act as an advocate and mentor, acknowledging student diversity and individual needs in one's pedagogical practice, contributing to students' academic and personal growth.

KEY RESULTS AREA

LEARNING AND TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expertise in Early Childhood music, with the ability to seamlessly integrate other performing arts (drama, dance, art)
  • ABility to connect arts education with classroom curriculum
  • Ability to facilitate and execute high quality performances
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Lower School theatre program to provide music direction
  • Guita, Ukulele, or Keyboard skills
  • Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students.
  • Encourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties.
  • Know and use various assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
  • Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive.
  • Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
  • Select and plan appropriate learning and teaching activities that are in alignment with NBPS standards
  • Develop lessons that engage students in higher-order thinking personalizing instruction based on student needs.
  • Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

  • Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
  • Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner
  • Creating an environment that fosters a growth mindset.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual respect.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Commitment to remaining a lifelong learner focused on growth and improvement.
  • Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class. 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Proficiency with: Microsoft 365 Education; Canvas learning management system 
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Results-orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
