AWS Communications is looking for an experienced, versatile PR professional to join its Customer & Industries Comms team. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who will drive high-impact, integrated media relations campaigns that showcase how customers and Amazon are innovating with AWS to create new value for their customers, employees, and overall operations.
A core focus of this job will be publicizing the stories of how our retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers rely on AWS to power their businesses with AI, analytics, and other cloud services. AWS supports many of the world’s leading retail and CPG companies, such as Niemen-Marcus, Coca-Cola, Lululemon, Nike, Petco and, of course, Amazon.com. As we sometimes say, “AWS was born from retail, and built for retailers.”
Key job responsibilities Creating and executing proactive, creative, and integrated PR campaigns that align with a pioneering technology business
Developing media strategies that align resources and create a cadence of press opportunities that elevate the AWS story with reporters
Managing complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism
Managing relationships with reporters and influencers across business, technology, and the industries
Developing stories with customers and partners about their journey to the cloud and use of AWS services, including AI/ML, data analytics, and industry-specific solutions.
Cultivating and maximizing relationships with customers, including business leaders, technologists, and PR teams
Crafting compelling story ideas, content, and messaging
Leading media programs for AWS-owned and industry/customer/partner events
Managing PR agencies
A day in the life You will use your understanding of the intersection of technology and retail/consumer packaged goods to execute high-impact and creative PR plans. You will work across multiple teams, sometimes with competing stakeholders, to produce a steady cadence of coverage, influence conversations, press engagement, and awareness of cloud computing’s transformational impact across industries. In this role, you will have an opportunity to support creative programs that are worthy of a company that continues to pioneer the cloud.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
Experience working with high-level executives at large technology companies
Track record in communications or PR for high-profile enterprise software/systems companies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Outstanding attention to detail, understanding of technology, and ability to communicate complex topics effectively
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done
An entrepreneurial spirit, including ability to work independently and autonomously
Creativity and bias for action
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Strategic thinking, analytical and organizational skills, and excellence in tactical execution
Good judgement, a knack for diplomacy, experience with communications project management
Confidence to engage and build consensus with multiple stakeholder and functional leaders at various levels
