Our client is hiring a Technical Director and recognized thought leader to support their Space Electronics Systems Business. You will be the most senior technical role within the business and have a major impact on the performance, trajectory and growth in the space electronics market. You will need a deep, multi-disciplinary technical understanding of space electronics with demonstrated success leading a family of products. You will need strong communication skills and ability to bridge technical concepts and architectures to business leaders throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • You will develop, maintain and promulgate the master product/technology roadmap, next-generation products, intellectual property and development log, and assess the competition and business position in the marketplace.
  • You will have ultimate decision authority on technical matters related to product / technology areas on space systems programs, including internal research and development programs.
  • Your role will provide ultimate judgement/direction on the technical adequacy of design, analysis and testing activities; informed by cost and schedule, to align with business strategy.
  • You will work closely with Engineering (Common Design Element Owners and Product Family Owners) and Director of Programs to ensure the technical execution on multiple internal/external programs meet PMO requirements.
  • You will lead and complete activities related to business development including lead generation, opportunity capture, concept development, and proposal development/review.
  • Act as a technical focal point for internal/external customers ensuring satisfaction with all technical efforts including participation in customer and government review boards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Certification: Master's degree (doctorate preferred) in technical field related to engineering or physics.
  • Years of Experience: 14+ years of total experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABIILITIES

  • You need to have 10+ years of experience in engineering.
  • You also need 5-7 years in hands-on leadership role.
  • You must have extensive experience in space systems design (satellites, payloads, launch systems, etc.) and electronics hardware used in space missions.
  • You will need expertise in space-grade electronics, including radiation-hardened systems, power systems, communications, and control electronics used in space applications.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microprocessors, and real-time software for space missions is required.
  • You must have experience testing and validating space electronics, including environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, radiation) and compliance with space mission standards (e.g., DoD, NASA, ESA, etc).
