Position Summary:
The Video Manager will oversee all aspects of video production for Ravinia, playing a critical role in capturing, editing, and delivering compelling video content that supports the festival’s mission and enhances its brand. Reporting to the Associate Creative Director of Media Production, the Video Manager will manage video projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality results that align with Ravinia’s creative vision. This position requires technical expertise, creative storytelling abilities, and strong organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Video Production:

    • Lead the planning, filming, and editing of video projects, including promotional content, event coverage, artist interviews, and behind-the-scenes stories.

    • Operate professional video equipment, including cameras, stabilizers, and audio recording devices, to capture high-quality footage.

    • Set up and manage lighting and audio for formal interviews and live event shoots.

  • Project Management:

    • Coordinate video production schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of all assets.

    • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and social media, to align video projects with organizational goals and timelines.

    • Work with freelance videographers and interns to supplement production efforts as needed.

  • Post-Production:

    • Edit video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, ensuring polished and professional results.

    • Incorporate motion graphics, color correction, and sound design into videos as required.

    • Maintain a consistent visual style and brand voice across all video projects.

  • Digital Asset Management (DAM):

    • Organize, upload, and tag video assets in Ravinia’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for easy retrieval and future use.

    • Ensure proper archiving of all video content, including b-roll, completed projects, and raw footage.

  • Collaboration and Content Strategy:

    • Partner with the Associate Creative Director of Media Production to brainstorm and execute innovative video concepts that engage audiences and enhance Ravinia’s storytelling.

    • Work closely with the social media team to create platform-specific video content optimized for engagement.

    • Collaborate with photographers, graphic designers, and other creative team members to integrate video content into broader campaigns.

  • Event Coverage:

    • Capture live performances, artist interviews, and on-site activities during Ravinia’s concert season.

    • Lead video production teams during large-scale events to ensure seamless coverage.

    • Mission-based event coverage to support Ravinia’s Reach Teach Play and Steans Institute programs.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Manage and maintain video production equipment, ensuring all gear is in working order and up to date.

    • Recommend new equipment purchases to enhance production capabilities.

  • Other Responsibilities:

    • Stay up-to-date on video production trends, tools, and techniques to continuously improve Ravinia’s video output.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Creative Director of Media Production.




Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proficiency in video production tools and software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related Adobe Creative Suite applications.

  • Demonstrated experience in filming, editing, and producing high-quality video content.

  • Strong understanding of video storytelling, motion graphics, and sound design.

  • Experience with professional video equipment, including cameras, stabilizers, lighting, and audio recording devices.

  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems and metadata tagging.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays during Ravinia’s concert season.




Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time position based at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. The role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays during Ravinia’s concert season. While most work is performed in an office or studio setting, the position also involves outdoor event coverage and occasional physical demands, such as setting up video and audio equipment. Limited travel may be required for specific projects or training opportunities.



Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $65,000-$75,000
