JOB TITLE: Designer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor or Lead Designer

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Designer will work as a competent member of the drafting team, contributing to daily assigned tasks as directed by the Drafting Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:

  1. Draft redlines from planners
  2. Process survey drawings into base maps
  3. Create circuit and vicinity maps
  4. Utilize AutoCAD or AUD to create and modify drawings
  5. Learn and stay up-to-date with company specific drafting standards and practices
  6. Work a regular 40-hour workweek, with OT as required
  7. All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic knowledge and ability to utilize AutoCAD software
  2. Ability to code routines within AutoCAD
  3. Knowledge of general civil drafting practices
  4. Ability to read and understand utility and civil maps
  5. Ability to utilize online maps to gather information
  6. Able to learn quickly, and change focus when needed
  7. Ability to multi-task, with good organizational, planning and communications skills
  8. Proficient computer skills required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. 1 Year of Field Experience utilizing AutoCAD software

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. AutoCAD/Drafting Course Certificate
  2. 1+ Years of Field Experience utilizing AutoCAD software
