Maximus is seeking a seasoned Tech Writer - Editor to mentor a team of technical writers and ensure the creation of high-quality documentation that effectively communicates complex technical information to various audiences. This role involves workload analysis, providing guidance on writing best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and comprehensive cyber technical documentation. The Team Lead will interface and interact with federal clients and immediate staff to create, track, and manage technical documentation in a timely manner. Additionally, the candidate will create tailored documents for the client and manage them throughout the approval process as well as providing reviewing and editing facilitation and oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with cybersecurity experts in the public and private sectors to draft technical documents and communicative deliverables.
- Write, and coordinate strategic/operational/Best practice-based advisories in support of mission-critical operations.
- Brief higher-level subject matter experts on production, collaboration, and daily operations.
- Research and develop highly technical products and internal collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Expert in applications such as Word, PDF, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Support the development of targeted and strategic communications collateral (e.g., Annual Reports, monthly operational newsletters).
- Actively respond to cyber threats and create mitigation reports in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience writing cybersecurity documents and publications.
- Provide authoring for SOPs, reports, slick sheets, presentations, social media messaging, and other materials as requested.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an eye for formatting inconsistencies.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to a team of technical writers.
- Assign tasks and projects based on team members' strengths and workload capacity.
- Conduct regular product output evaluations and provide constructive feedback to Tech Writer staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Program Support:
- Provide program leadership support related to: Tech writer junior staff oversight & perform engagement program leadership to improve product impact.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Must be able to commute to the Arlington, VA on-site location.
