Duties/ Responsibilities include but not limited to:

ASR is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to provide a variety of duties utilizing their knowledge of facilities, facilities maintenance tasks, and trades capabilities. The ideal candidate will have an electrical background with an understanding of government and industry standards and specifications and will develop technical documents and performance work statements by researching work order and customer requirements, estimating material costs, and labor hour requirements using industry recognized estimating software applications.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and review customer requests, determine work requirements, develop performance work statements, scopes of work, required documentation for inclusion into delivery orders or task orders for existing contracts and develop cost estimates.
  2. Revise or write material that is standardized for reports, briefs, proposals, and related technical operations, and maintenance of industrial machinery.
  3. Receive assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer, may provide notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, and may observe production, developmental or experimental activities to verify the operating procedures provided.
  4. Access manufacturers’ catalog, drawings and other data related to operations, maintenance, specifications and product samples to integrate and explain operating procedures, and production cycles.
  5. Knowledge of electrical building trade.
  6. Apply performance standards and cost estimating methods to develop comprehensive independent estimates.
  7. Provide agendas and minutes of all formal reviews and briefings.
  8. Maintain a file of started, completed and ongoing work order forms.
  9. Prepare reports as required to document the daily actions assigned.
  10. Onsite support required during normal working hours between 06:00 to 18:00, Monday thru Friday, may be required to work overtime to meet program goals and objectives.
  11. The Technical Writer revises or writes material that is mostly standardized for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods
