You'll be part of a dedicated team in the Health and Medical Sciences. We are a team of publishers and editors collaborating to achieve the goals of both our team and the business.
About the Role
The Senior Publisher delivers realization and business plans aiming at the development and maintenance of a journal portfolio. Working with major society accounts and proprietary journals. Working In line with the strategy, plans and global objectives at Elsevier’s journal publishing division level. Managing and developing an assigned portfolio of journal titles and related products/services on a complex level.
Responsibilities

Developing and implementing the strategy for the portfolio; ensure alignment with the wider organization’s strategies.

Working with editors, authors, editorial boards and the academic community at large to ensure sufficient copy flow of relevant, high-quality manuscripts.

Negotiating and managing contractual relationships with journal editors and societies.

Continuous and pro-active maintenance of the existing portfolio, matching developments in the external marketplace, including the development of Open Access initiatives.

Continuous quality control and monitoring of all aspects of day-to-day editorial, production and publishing operations, actively addressing improvements where required.

Meeting portfolio related objectives with regards to content growth, market share, citation share, impact metrics, editorial speeds and author and editor satisfaction.

Managing the editorial fees budget and provide input to pricing processes.

Establish, manage and maintain excellent contacts and networks with key external stakeholders, including editors, authors, society representatives, with a view to understanding their professional and organizational needs and ongoing market developments.

Establish, manage and maintain excellent contacts with key stakeholders within the company, including editorial, production, publishing, marketing and technology teams, coordinating activities as they relate to the portfolio’s needs and development.

Requirements

Experience in data gathering, presentation and interpretation.

Have extensive experience in journal publishing coupled with society partner experience.

Have excellent verbal, written and communication skills with fluency in English.

Maintain a creative, collaborative, innovative working practice.

Able to build, nurture and manage editorial boards.

Have knowledge and experience in the health and medical sciences.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for NYC:$88,900.00 - $148,000.00
