Salary:$93,594 - $113,534 depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Media Relations Manager will support TLCs role as a leading.authority on trans issues by proactively developing and implementing innovativeapproaches to engage media outlets, leveraging expertise in press strategy to
maximize impact, amplifying trans liberation narratives, and shaping publicdiscourse. This leadership position focuses on setting high-level media strategy,supervising media engagement efforts, and ensuring the CommunicationsDepartment maintains a proactive and impactful media presence.The Senior Media Relations Manager will be responsible for overseeing andguiding TLCs strategic media initiatives to ensure alignment with organizationalvalues and goals. A key focus will be on building and sustaining strongpartnerships with media outlets, journalists, and the entertainment industry toamplify TLCs mission. The Senior Manager will oversee the development ofnarrative resources, media advocacy tools, and strategic press materials whilemanaging team members responsible for day-to-day media relations and project
execution. Through these efforts, the Senior Media Relations Manager will play apivotal role in shaping public narratives around trans liberation and advancing TLC's Mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic leadership for the Communications Department, settingthe vision for TLCs media strategy and overseeing its execution through supervising media relations staff and projects to ensure alignment with theorganizations mission and goals.
Monitor the media landscape to pitch stories and influence the news cyclewhile providing high-level media analysis to the communications team,spokespeople, and other staff as needed.
Oversee and proactively build relationships with national, regional, andlocal media and Hollywood outlets to create trans narratives across allmedia spheres.
Work with TLC policy, legal, and programmatic teams to effectively respond to and proactively engage with press and other media about legal cases and policy changes in a rapidly changing political legalenvironment.
Create opportunities for TLC leaders and experts to participate in publicdiscourse through op-eds, interviews, and panel discussions, amplifyingthe organization's voice and expertise.
Rapidly craft talking points that align with TLCs strategic messaging,leveraging every media inquiry as an opportunity to advance transliberation narratives and amplify the organizations messaging and goals.
Administer advanced, ongoing communication, media, and narrativetraining for TLC staff and members, empowering them to serve as trainedspokespeople and brand ambassadors.
Ensure the TLC Narrative Labs latest messaging guidance is effectivelyincorporated into all media advocacy materials and spokespersonpreparation.
Assist in managing TLCs Journalist Resource Series, which includespitching, producing, launching, and distributing media advocacy guides,reports, webinars, and other advocacy tools to change the narrative abouttrans people in the US media.
Partner with news outlets to create original content, co-create an ethicaljournalistic data source on trans violence, and establish programming totrain both emerging and established journalists on ethical coverage oftrans issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5-7 years of experience in a media relations or press secretary role
Must have demonstrated experience in and comfort with proactivelyengaging with press and media, including building and maintaining strong,collaborative relationships with journalists and media outlets.
A strong passion and interest in developing and executing strategic pressand messaging work, particularly related to complex policy and legalchanges.
Proven ability to create media resources that effectively communicate thenuances of complex policy and legal cases, integrating detailed informationwith strategic messaging to inform and engage diverse audiences.
Experience creating and managing budgets
Advanced project management experience and proven ability to managemultiple high-level projects simultaneously.
Experience managing consultants and consultancy firms.
Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills, with theability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and move multiple projectssimultaneously while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
A demonstrated commitment to racial, economic, and gender justice andan understanding of the communities TLC represents.
Experience working in teams with people from various racial, ethnic,socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender, disability, andgenerational backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with communications related to litigation, public policy, and
community organizing.
