Job Description:

Paydirt Games, Inc. is looking for a skillful Technical Artist. Our team values creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to quality.

The Technical Artist helps us to define art pipeline processes and craft Paydirt’s first game using the Unity Game Engine. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for implementing high-quality artwork that includes characters (players and NPC’s), animation, visual effects, environment art (terrain textures, props, buildings, foliage), and UI. You will work closely with engineers and artists to support character rigging, naming conventions, and asset management. You will also create character animations, materials, shaders, and visual effects as well as support engineering with UI creation and implementation.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, currently working from a home office with availability to meet in person at times in the Orange County area.

Responsibilities for Technical Artist

  1. Manage and maintain asset integration, files, pipelines and processes.
  2. Support performance optimization for art assets utilizing Unity’s tools and features.
  3. Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines, processes, and workflows.
  4. Create re-usable character rigs and compelling animations using Blender.
  5. Create and implement visual effects within Unity.

Minimum Requirements for Technical Artist

Experience

  1. 3+ years of professional game development as a technical artist.
  2. Experience using Blender for modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.
  3. Strong knowledge of the Unity Game Engine - objects, prefabs, animation, visual effects, materials, shaders.
  4. Understanding and experience working with sprites and sprite sheets within Unity.
  5. Solid understanding of material workflows including PBR and mobile.
  6. Familiarity using C# for game development within Unity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
