Job Summary: In your pivotal role as Web Developer, you will design, test, and implement websites and programs to meet the needs of key stakeholders under general supervision. You also will provide primary user support and perform system analysis on assigned projects, as well as maintain cloud server, including security and module updates, for optimal website performance. Websites are designed to support organizational strategies and goals.
NOTE: This position will offer work-from-home opportunities, but you will need to be able to work in our Nashville, TN office as determined by project needs, so we are seeking a local candidate.
The Office of Health Sciences Education at VUMC governs a broad range of educational activities at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, including undergraduate medical education (the MD program), graduate medical education, physician continuous professional development, as well as advanced degree and certificate programs in health and medically-related fields. With locations in Light Hall and the recently renovated Eskind Biomedical Library and Learning Center, our office serves students, house staff, and faculty throughout the continuum of education. The office also provides the many services that support these academic programs, including education technology and informatics, simulation programs, educator development programs, financial and administrative oversight, student services, and education research resources. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain several websites and SharePoint sites in alignment with industry best practices. This includes providing user support, training, and resource development.
- Develop coding including, but not limited to, HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript, to ensure websites are responsive on desktop and mobile devices.
- Develop information architecture for the websites, including wireframing for all levels of sites with navigation interface based on user-centered design.
- Use FTP, SSH, SFTP, GIT and terminal to update files on the server, as needed.
- Manage and maintain cloud servers for websites, including server security and troubleshooting.
- Implement website analytics and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Support MYSQL database and all database-related tasks.
- Conceptualize creative ideas and collaborate with designated team members to determine business needs and design preferences.
Technical Capabilities:
- ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD: Proficient using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- HTML/CSS: Proficient using HTML5 and CSS3.
- FTP, SSH, SFTP AND GIT: Proficient using FTP, SSH, SFTP and GIT to access and maintain servers and websites.
- MYSQL: Experience working with MYSQL databases.
- PHP AND JAVASCRIPT: PHP and JavaScript web development experience.
- Microsoft Power Apps: Strong understanding of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI.
- Ability to create automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes and integrate with other services.
- Familiarity with creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI/Tableau to provide insights and analytics for decision-making.
- Experience with programming languages for customizing apps and extending functionality.
